We continually strive to improve our environmental performance based on defined objectives and targets for monitoring, measuring and reporting performance.
On a corporate level, we report our environmental performance annually through Newcrest’s Sustainability Report (Results and Reports centre (newcrest.com))
At Cadia, we provide an annual summary of our site’s environmental performance through the development of an Annual Review .
We also conduct independent compliance audits to evaluate our environmental compliance and performance.
We also provide an annual Dams Safety Standards Reports on all dams on Cadia-owned land.
In 2023 a small number of residents living in the district informed Cadia that they had self-tested the quality of water in their water tanks and found elevated levels of contaminants, including lead. This information was very concerning, and in response, Cadia commissioned and completed several independent scientific studies.
Every year we develop an Annual Review, previously called the Annual Environmental Management Report (AEMR)
We regularly undertake audits to evaluate environmental compliance and performance across the site.
To fulfil the requirements of the Mining Regulation 2016, we are required to produce an Annual Rehabilitation Report and Forward Program to detail mining and rehabilitation activities on our Mining Lease areas.
As part of the Dams Safety Act 2015, we are required to publish Dams Safety Standards Reports for all dams situated on Cadia-owned land.
