Cadia is one of Australia’s largest gold mining operations, owned 100 per cent by Newmont Corporation, following the acquisition of Newcrest Mining Limited on 6 November 2023.
We are located approximately 25 kilometres from Orange in Central West New South Wales (NSW) and 250 kilometres west of Sydney.
Our site comprises the Cadia East underground mine, which is one of the largest gold and copper deposits in the world. Cadia East commenced commercial production in January 2013 and uses the large-scale mining method known as panel caving.
The site also comprises the Cadia Hill Pit Tailings Storage Facility and the Ridgeway underground mine, which is currently in care and maintenance.
We produce gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The concentrates are piped to a dewatering plant at nearby Blayney and sent by rail to Port Kembla in New South Wales for export. The Molybdenum Plant was commissioned during the March 2022 quarter and is expected to deliver an additional revenue stream in the form of molybdenum concentrate which will be a by-product credit to All-In Sustaining Cost per ounce.
We are committed to supporting our local community - Apply for a Community Partnership grant.
Cadia resides within the Cadia district, an agricultural region rich in mining history. Find out more at our Cadia Heritage website.
We have commenced planning for a long-term continuation to mining operations known as the Cadia Continued Operations Project (CCOP).
The Parliamentary Inquiry submission provides information on a range of current and planned measures designed to ensure Cadia remains in compliance with regulatory requirements and meets the environmental, health and safety expectations of both the local and broader communities.
Mining responsibly is what the community expects of us, and what we demand of ourselves. We remain firmly committed to rebuilding trust and confidence in our operations with the community and regulator, so we can continue to support jobs, regional investment, and the energy transition
