At Cadia Valley Operations (CVO), Newcrest distributes more than $400,000 each year in funding to support and enhance community groups and organisations in the Blayney, Cabonne and Orange local government areas.
Following findings from a recent socio-economic study conducted in the local region, CVO’s Community Partnership Committee revised its strategy for funding support.
Health, agriculture and tourism were identified as alternative industry sectors which will ensure the prosperity of the region when CVO reaches mine closure. Approximately 60% of CVO’s annual budget will be directed towards funding in these areas.
Education, childcare and disadvantaged groups were identified as industries to offset the current impacts of CVO activities and approximately 40% of CVO’s annual budget will be spent in these areas.
